Fort Sumter
Fort Sumter was located on an island in South Carolina in the Charleston Harbor. The battle was held by the northern army and they needed to be resupplied(food, ammunition, etc.). South Carolina didn't like that the Union had the fort and wouldn't let them resupply the fort. The Confederate army demanded the evacuation of Fort Sumter. The northern army refused and the Confederate army opened fire. The Union army ended up surrendering and the Confederate army captured the fort, but more importantly the Civil War has began.

Quote: “The mission of the playwright is to look in his heart and write, to write whatever concerns him at the moment; to write with passion and conviction. Of course the measure of the man will be the measure of the play.”
